What has been upgraded in Uniview's Owlview Plus?

If you have been keeping up with the latest developments in the security industry, you may have seen footage from Uniview's Owlview cameras. The brightness and vibrancy of the footage are so impressive that they often look like daytime, even when recorded in the dead of night.

This is made possible by Uniview's Wise ISP technology, which utilizes intelligent noise reduction and color restoration to produce exceptionally clear images in low light. But this incredible technology is getting even better. Enter the Owlview Plus.

Key Hardware Upgrades in Owlview Plus

Uniview is taking low-light security a step further by increasing the sensor size, beefing up durability, and giving you more operational control.

Larger Image Sensor

The Owlview Plus features a massive 1/1.2" image sensor, a significant upgrade from the 1/1.8" sensor found in the standard Owlview. This larger sensor drastically increases light intake, resulting in better clarity in challenging lighting environments and much cleaner images overall at night.

Improved Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

Filming in mixed lighting—like bright sunlight pouring through a window, or street lights casting harsh shadows at night—requires strong WDR. The Owlview Plus bumps the WDR capability up to 130 dB (versus the standard 120 dB), allowing it to reveal significantly more detail around intensely bright areas and deep shadows.

Higher Frame Rates & Audio/Alarm Interfaces

You can now record 8-Megapixel (4K) resolution at a fluid 30 frames per second, up from the previous maximum of 20 fps. Additionally, while the standard Owlview only offered a built-in mic, the Plus model includes full audio inputs/outputs and alarm inputs/outputs, giving you far more integration options for external alarms and speakers.

Intelligent Processing & Smart Features

The Owlview Plus isn't just about hardware; it also takes intelligent processing to the next level with Smart Intrusion Prevention (SIP).

  • Advanced Object Distinguishing: Standard models featured SIP light (configurable crosslines for detecting people/vehicles). The Plus model can now specifically distinguish between humans, motor vehicles, and non-motorized vehicles.
  • Analytics Built-in: You now get access to advanced analytics like people flow counting, crowd density monitoring, and auto-scene match for smarter, automated responses to different environments.
